BUK Don Advocates for Marketable Education and Skill Development
Prof. Adetokunbo Adebola, a professor at Bayero University and a former Wing Commander, has urged young people to prioritize enrolling in courses that equip them with skills for self-sufficiency after graduation.
Speaking at the 2024 Odide Day Cultural celebration, hosted by the Ilajo Royal Family of Kabba in Kogi State, Prof. Adebola emphasized the importance of choosing market-relevant education to tackle unemployment.
The professor highlighted how advancements in artificial intelligence and technology are reshaping the job market, urging youths to embrace digital education and modern skills to stay competitive. "The emergence of artificial intelligence is transforming industries, making it essential for young people to adapt through digital learning," he noted.
In his keynote address titled "Love and Unity as Ingredients for Community Development," Prof. Adebola called on the youth to focus on creative and productive thinking. He encouraged them to avoid materialism, greed, and illegal activities that could jeopardize their futures. "Your efforts today will define your success in the years to come," he added.
The professor also stressed the importance of unity and collaboration within communities, describing them as critical elements for sustainable development.
