Federal Government Declares Public Holidays for Christmas and New Year

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays.

The announcement marks Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day as national holidays.

In a statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, encouraged Nigerians to use the holiday season to reflect on the values of love, harmony, and peace that it represents.

“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal,” the Minister emphasized.

He highlighted the significance of the season in fostering unity and strengthening bonds within communities and families.  “As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he added.
