The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) achieved approximately 20,000 flight hours in its 2024 operations, reflecting its dedication to safeguarding national security and interests, according to Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS).

Abubakar shared this milestone in a goodwill message to NAF officers and airmen during the Christmas celebrations on Thursday.

Highlighting the challenges faced across various theatres of operation in the past year, the CAS praised the bravery and resilience of the NAF personnel, which he said had led to significant operational achievements.

“To my gallant officers and airmen, as we draw the curtain on another eventful year, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every member of the NAF family.

“Your unwavering dedication, resilience, and sacrifice in the service of our great nation have been instrumental in ensuring the security and stability of our beloved country,” he said.

Abubakar noted the notable improvements in aircraft serviceability rates, enhanced operational capabilities, and the continued emphasis on staff training. He added that these efforts had strengthened the force’s self-reliance and reduced dependency on external support.

The CAS also underscored the importance of synergy and interagency collaboration, emphasizing that coordinated efforts are vital for achieving lasting peace and security.

Looking ahead, he expressed optimism about the NAF’s continued growth and resilience, encouraging the personnel to remain steadfast in their mission to serve and defend the nation.
