Principal Detained Following Stampede at Ibadan School Funfair

The Oyo State Police Command has taken Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan, into custody. The principal has been held since responding to a police invitation on Wednesday.

According to reports, the detention is connected to a stampede that occurred at the school on the same day.

The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 32 children, as confirmed by our correspondent. The stampede occurred during a children’s funfair organized at the school.

The event was reportedly planned by Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ile-Ife. Further investigations into the cause of the stampede are ongoing.
