South Korean Acting President Han Duck-soo Impeached by Lawmakers

South Korean lawmakers impeached Acting President Han Duck-soo on Friday, following a parliamentary vote.

Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly, confirmed the impeachment motion's passage during an official announcement.

“I announce that Prime Minister Han Duck-soo’s impeachment motion has passed. Out of the 192 lawmakers who voted, 192 voted to impeach,” Won-shik stated.

The development comes after allegations that the acting president was involved in controversial actions during a period of political unrest earlier this month. These actions included claims of participation in decisions linked to martial law imposed by his predecessor.
