Tinubu Approves ₦95 Billion for Kano Infrastructure Development

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved ₦95 billion for the construction of the State Eastern Bypass Road, linking the Kano metropolis to the southern region, and for the rehabilitation of over 16 dams in Kano State to enhance irrigation farming.

Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, the newly appointed Executive Director of Finance at the Hadejia River Basin Development Authority, announced the development in a statement.

Kwankwaso explained: “The inauguration of the technical committee to evaluate Kano dams, including the Challawa Gorge and Tiga Dams, will boost irrigation and agricultural productivity. This aligns with the efforts of Hon. Minister Joseph Utsev to maximize these facilities in Kano.”

He highlighted that the ₦95 billion allocation, facilitated by Senator Kawu Sumaila, demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to Kano and the North West region.

Additionally, Kwankwaso acknowledged the support of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, whose efforts in establishing the North West Development Commission aim to bring prosperity to the region.

Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his appointment, stating: “This appointment energizes our collective desire to deliver the Renewed Hope Agenda and secure progress for Kano and the North by 2027. It reflects the President’s positive vision for our state and nation.”

He also thanked Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hon. Abba Bichi for their support.

Highlighting the administration’s infrastructure goals, Kwankwaso noted: “The completion of the Kano-Kaduna-Abuja expressway and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline project, expected by 2025, underscores the President’s commitment to Kano and the North.”

Kwankwaso expressed confidence in the leadership team of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, which includes notable professionals committed to advancing the administration’s goals.
