Bauchi Police Recover N784,000 from Erring Officers and Return to Victims
The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the recovery of N784,000 from officers found guilty of misconduct, with the money returned to the victims of extortion.
This was disclosed by Police Commissioner Auwal Mohammed in a statement summarizing the command’s achievements in 2024.
According to Mohammed, the Police Public Relations Department’s Complaint Response Unit played a key role in addressing public complaints of officer misconduct.
“In 2024, we received 10 complaints against our officers, which were thoroughly investigated. These efforts led to the recovery of N784,000 from officers found culpable, and the money has been returned to the victims,” Mohammed stated.
He added that 18 officers faced disciplinary actions for various professional violations. “One police constable was dismissed, four officers had their ranks reduced, six received warning letters, and four others were reprimanded,” he explained.
The commissioner assured the public of the command’s commitment to professionalism and improved service delivery.
