Donald Trump Warns Hamas Over Hostage Situation
Donald Trump, the incoming president of the United States, has issued a warning to Hamas, urging the release of hostages in Gaza before his inauguration.
Trump, who will take office on January 20 as the 47th president, made the statement during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, Florida. He emphasized the urgency of resolving the hostage situation involving approximately 100 individuals, including several Americans, who have been held in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
“All efforts must focus on bringing the hostages back safely,” Trump said. “If they are not released by the time I take office, there will be significant consequences for peace in the Middle East.”
Steven Charles Witkoff, the president-elect’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, expressed optimism about the ongoing negotiations. “We are working closely with relevant parties to ensure the hostages' safe return. President Trump’s clear expectations and leadership are driving these efforts,” Witkoff explained.
Efforts to secure the hostages' release are ongoing, with hopes for a peaceful resolution.
