Governor Zulum Condemns Attack on Farmers in Kukawa
Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State, has strongly condemned the recent attack on farmers and fishermen in Dumba, Kukawa Local Government Area, which occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2025. The tragic incident, attributed to suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, claimed the lives of at least 40 individuals, with many others still unaccounted for.
In a statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, Governor Zulum expressed deep sorrow over the attack. “With deep sorrow and anguish, I received the sad news of the attack on Dumba, where scores of our farmers and fishermen were killed by terrorists,” the statement read.
The governor called on the Nigerian military to intensify its efforts under Operation Hadin Kai to locate and eliminate insurgents in the Lake Chad area. He assured the public of a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
“Let me use this opportunity to call on the armed forces to deal decisively with the perpetrators of this violence against our innocent citizens,” Governor Zulum stated.
