IGP Orders Crackdown on Boko Haram Terrorists After Police Headquarters Attack
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has directed an immediate crackdown on Boko Haram terrorists following a deadly attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State.
The incident occurred on Thursday around 12:10 AM, resulting in the deaths of two police officers, Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat. Another officer sustained serious injuries during the attack.
Despite the initial assault, on-duty officers, with support from the nearby civilian joint taskforce, successfully repelled the terrorists after a gunfire exchange.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the Inspector-General condemned the attack, describing it as a heinous act of violence. He reiterated the police force's commitment to ensuring the safety of communities and addressing threats posed by terrorist groups.
