Iran's President Denies Alleged Assassination Plot Against Donald Trump
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has denied allegations that his country planned to assassinate Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for the U.S. presidency. Speaking on the matter, Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran had no involvement in any such plot.
The denial follows an indictment issued by the U.S. Department of Justice in November, implicating an Iranian individual in an alleged conspiracy to target Trump. The plot was reportedly linked to Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps. However, U.S. law enforcement agencies successfully intercepted and thwarted the alleged scheme before any action could occur.
Last year, during the U.S. election campaign, Trump himself suggested that Iran might have been behind efforts to harm him. These remarks added to tensions between the two nations.
While both sides have made claims and counterclaims, no definitive evidence has been publicly presented to substantiate the allegations.
