Minister Yusuf Tugga Raises Concerns Over Governance in Bauchi State

Yusuf Tugga, Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, has expressed concerns about governance in Bauchi State, particularly regarding the management of public funds and urban rehabilitation projects.

In an interview with Liberty TV, the Minister commented on recent criticisms of the federal administration by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed. Tugga pointed out that despite increased federal allocations to the state, tangible improvements in infrastructure and social services remain limited.

He noted that Bauchi State received N8.8 billion in federal funds in October 2024 and an additional N9 billion in November. However, he questioned the impact of these funds on sectors such as education, healthcare, and efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children.

According to Tugga, concerns have also been raised about land acquisition practices in the state. He alleged that some rehabilitation and commercial farming projects have led to the displacement of urban residents and small-scale farmers, prompting calls for greater transparency and accountability.

The Minister emphasized the need for funds to be directed toward initiatives that directly benefit citizens and address pressing developmental challenges in Bauchi State.
