NIS Denies Officer Casualties in Kebbi State Terrorist Attack
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has refuted claims that its officers were among the victims of a recent terrorist attack on border facilities in Kangiwa, Kebbi State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NIS spokesperson Kenneth Udo confirmed that the attack occurred on Friday, January 10, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m. The incident tragically claimed four lives: a local watchman and three contractors.
The Service clarified that no Immigration officers were harmed during the attack, although the border facilities suffered extensive damage.
Expressing its condolences to the victims' families, the NIS assured the public that it is collaborating with other security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders and urged citizens to remain vigilant while reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities.
