North West University Kano Takes Disciplinary Action Over Exam Misconduct
North West University, Kano, has taken decisive action against examination misconduct during the first semester of the 2023–2024 academic year. The institution rusticated 18 students and expelled 41 others following recommendations from the Central Examination Misconduct Committee.
The decision was approved during the university's 56th regular Senate meeting held on December 30, 2024. A circular confirming this outcome was issued on January 3, 2025, and signed by Jafaru Sule Muhammad, the Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records, on behalf of the Registrar.
According to the circular, the affected students were found to have violated the university's examination policies. In addition to the rustications and expulsions, 42 students received written warnings for their roles in the misconduct, while two students were cleared of all charges.
The disciplinary measures involved students from multiple faculties, including Basic Medical Sciences, Science, Computing, Education, Social and Management Sciences, and Humanities.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to upholding academic integrity and urged students to adhere strictly to its examination guidelines.
