22 Repentant Terrorists Transferred to Neuropsychiatric Hospital for Evaluation
Brigadier General Yusuf Ali, Coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC), has confirmed that 22 repentant terrorists have been moved to the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Maiduguri for further assessment and treatment.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday at the Defense Headquarters in Abuja, Ali stated that a total of 825 individuals had been transferred to a rehabilitation camp for reintegration training.
“Between July and November 2024, a total of 825 clients were transferred to the camp to commence training. Amongst them are 14 foreigners from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.”
“It is also important to mention that 22 clients were subsequently transferred to the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri for further evaluation and management,” Ali added.
Ali further explained that the meeting was held to strategize on the seamless reintegration of the rehabilitated individuals into their national and state authorities following their graduation in March 2025.
Key objectives of the meeting included:
- Updating stakeholders on the OPSC’s activities and the De-radicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) program.
- Defining state authorities' and MDAs' roles in the transfer and reintegration process.
- Identifying affordable resettlement packages for the individuals.
- Determining community sensitization efforts, camp visitations, and service programs.
- Ratifying the graduation date and planning the ceremony.
Since its inception in 2016, Operation Safe Corridor has processed 2,190 individuals, including 2,163 Nigerians and 27 international citizens from Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.
