Army Chief Pledges Total Eradication of Banditry in Katsina

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to completely eliminating banditry in Katsina State as part of its intensified efforts to combat criminal groups in the region.


During his first official visit to the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade at Natsinta Barracks, Katsina, Oluyede evaluated the brigade’s operations and identified challenges affecting their efficiency.

The Army Chief praised the brigade’s ongoing efforts in combating insecurity. He urged troops to intensify their fight against bandits, emphasizing the need for a safer state. He reaffirmed the army’s dedication to completely eradicating banditry from Katsina.

Oluyede reminded soldiers of their core duty to protect Nigeria, stressing that eliminating banditry will:

  • Improve public safety
  • Free up government resources for development
  • Enhance the quality of life for Nigerians

The Army Chief concluded by charging his troops to remain focused on their mission, assuring them of continued support to strengthen their operations.
