Britain Monitors Russian Naval Ships Passing Through the Channel

Britain announced on Saturday that its military had tracked six Russian naval and commerce vessels passing through the English Channel in recent days. According to the British Ministry of Defence (MoD), the ships were carrying ammunition previously used in Syria.

The Royal Navy and Royal Air Force shadowed the vessels as they left Syrian waters. The British defence minister, John Healey, commented on the development, stating:

“These ships were retreating from Syria after their mission, yet they were still armed and full of ammunition. This shows Russia remains a significant force.”

Reports indicate that Russia has been adjusting its military presence in Syria. However, there has been no official confirmation of a large-scale withdrawal.

Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in London has not yet responded to Britain's statement.

Moscow continues to maintain its military presence in Syria, operating air and naval bases under agreements with the current government.
