JD Vance Criticizes European Leaders Over Democracy and Free Speech at Munich Conference

Vice President JD Vance of the United States has criticized European leaders for allegedly infringing on democracy and free speech.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on Friday, Vance expressed concerns about how European nations handle democratic values and free expression, as reported by the BBC.

Vance, who is set to meet Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky during the conference to discuss possible resolutions to the ongoing war with Russia, highlighted differences in approach between the U.S. and Europe.

Addressing world leaders, Vance stated, "There is a new sheriff in town," referencing U.S. President Donald Trump.

Earlier, Zelensky remarked that he does not see a “ready U.S. plan” to end the war.

Meanwhile, Moscow has indicated that it will not send a delegation to the Munich conference, despite Trump’s previous statement suggesting that U.S., Russian, and Ukrainian officials would meet there.
