Kano Court Sets April 15, 2025, for Hearing on Preliminary Objections in Ganduje’s Case

A Kano State High Court has scheduled April 15, 2025, for the hearing of all outstanding preliminary objections in the case involving Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his wife Hafsat Umar, and six others.

The Kano State Government has filed eight charges, including bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds, against the defendants. Other individuals and entities named in the lawsuit include:

  • Abubakar Bawuro
  • Umar Abdullahi Umar
  • Jibrilla Muhammad
  • Lamash Properties Limited
  • Safari Textiles Limited
  • Lasage General Enterprises Limited

During the Thursday hearing, prosecution attorney Adeola Adedipe, SAN, stated that they had filed a motion on February 2 to extend the time for regularizing their preliminary objection.

Defense attorneys also made requests to regularize their legal filings, including:

  • Adekunle Taiye-Falola (third & seventh defendants) – Filed an extension request on December 12, 2024.
  • Sunusi Musa, SAN (fifth defendant) – Submitted an extension petition on January 7, 2025.
  • Abubakar Ahmed (sixth respondent) – Filed a preliminary objection on September 9, 2024.
  • Ibrahim Aliyu-Nasarawa (eighth defendant) – Requested additional time.

After hearing the arguments, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu granted all requests for an extension and adjourned the case to April 15, 2025.

The case has generated widespread public interest and is expected to proceed with objection hearings before the substantive trial begins.
