Osun State Police Warns Vehicle Owners on Third-Party Insurance Compliance
The Osun State Police Command has warned vehicle owners that they will face penalties if they fail to comply with the third-party auto insurance policy.
Acting on the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Command has commenced strict enforcement of the policy across the state.
In a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, Police Public Relations Officer Yemisi Opalola, on behalf of Commissioner of Police Mohammed Umar Abba, emphasized that the enforcement aligns with Sections 68 of the Insurance Act and Sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Motor Vehicle (Third-Party Insurance) Act.
The police urged all vehicle owners to obtain valid insurance, warning that non-compliance will attract sanctions.
“The enforcement team consists of personnel from the Osun State Police Command, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and Osun State Internal Revenue Service. Vehicle owners should verify the authenticity and validity of their insurance certificates.”
