Senator Katung Decries Shortage of Science Teachers in Southern Kaduna
Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Southern Kaduna, has expressed concern over the shortage of science teachers in his constituency.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna, he lamented that many science schools in the region have fully equipped laboratories but lack qualified instructors.
Senator Katung highlighted the urgent need for physics, chemistry, and biology teachers, adding that some zonal education offices in his district have only two mathematics teachers.
He urged political officeholders to work beyond party affiliations to achieve meaningful educational progress.
The senator commended Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State.
On the issue of insecurity in Southern Kaduna, Senator Katung pointed to the rising cases of kidnapping for ransom, particularly in Kauru Local Government Area. He assured the public that security agencies are actively working to curb the menace.
He also condemned the role of insiders—family members or close associates—who facilitate kidnappings and urged them to abandon such immoral activities.
Contrary to popular belief, he dismissed the notion that the region’s security crisis stems from farmer-herder conflicts, insisting that the violence is purely driven by banditry targeting his people.
