Sowore Confirms Attack on His Team During Lagos City Marathon

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, has confirmed that he and his team were attacked during the Lagos City Marathon.

According to early reports, individuals believed to be political thugs confronted the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC).

A live video observed by our correspondent on Facebook showed Sowore, his team, and several journalists being harassed.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, Sowore confirmed the incident but assured the public that he was unharmed.

He stated that the confrontation arose after his team was accused of unlawfully occupying the “VVIP space post-event.”

“I am safe and unharmed in Lagos. Yes, some rogue elements launched an attack on us after completing the Lagos Marathon today, claiming that we unlawfully occupied the ‘VVIP’ space post-event,” Sowore wrote.
