Taraba State Government Refutes Insolvency Claims
Hajia Zainab Usman, Taraba State’s Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, has dismissed allegations that the state government is financially insolvent, stating that such claims are unfounded and misleading.
Speaking on Wednesday, Usman responded to accusations of financial mismanagement and misappropriation, asserting that the state’s economic position has improved under the current administration.
According to her: “By December 2024, the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) had increased from N700 million to over N2 billion since the administration took office.”
She described allegations of N100 billion in embezzlement as false and lacking evidence, emphasizing that funds were not diverted but used to service inherited loans while implementing major projects.
To refute claims that the government had failed in project execution, the commissioner highlighted several completed and ongoing infrastructure projects.
She also pointed to the introduction of a new N70,000 minimum wage as evidence of the state’s financial health, arguing that an insolvent government would not be able to implement such salary increases.
Usman reassured the public that the Taraba State Government remains committed to financial transparency and infrastructural development, urging citizens to rely on verified information rather than speculation.
