Traditional Ruler Urges Farmers, Traders to Lower Food Prices in Taraba
Lamindo Abba Tukur, the District Head of Jalingo and Galadima Muri of the Muri Emirate, has called on traders and farmers across Taraba State to reduce food prices to ease the financial burden on low-income earners.
Speaking during his 40th anniversary celebration on the throne in Jalingo over the weekend, the traditional ruler expressed deep concern over the rising cost of food, which he said is worsening economic conditions for the poor.
“The daily rise in food prices is making life harder for the underprivileged. Farmers and traders must consider their plight and lower food costs,” he urged.
He also warned that the continuous depreciation of the Naira against food prices could push many into severe financial hardship if left unchecked.
The Galadima commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his commitment to tackling insecurity in Taraba State, noting that the reduction in banditry has significantly improved people’s lives.
“My decision to celebrate 40 years on the throne today is largely due to Governor Kefas’ relentless fight against insecurity in Taraba,” he stated.
He emphasized that enhanced security has allowed farmers and business owners to resume their activities, restoring hope for many.
“I sincerely commend Governor Agbu Kefas for his outstanding fight against insecurity, which is gradually restoring normalcy and hope for our people,” he added.
As a traditional leader, he reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring the well-being of his people and advocating for economic relief in the state.
