Trudeau Taunts Trump After Canada’s Hockey Victory Over the U.S.
Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, took a playful jab at former U.S. President Donald Trump after Canada’s national hockey team defeated the United States in the 4 Nations Face-Off final in Boston on Thursday.
Trump had publicly expressed his desire to make Canada the “51st state” of the U.S.He called the U.S. team before the match to offer support and even threatened heavy tariffs on Canadian imports.
The game ended in a thrilling 3-2 overtime win for Canada, sealing their championship.
Goalie Jordan Binnington silenced critics with key saves, while Connor McDavid scored the game-winning goal.
After the victory, Trudeau took to X (formerly Twitter) to deliver a sharp message: “You can’t take our country – and you can’t take our game.”
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that some U.S. fans jeered during the Canadian national anthem, despite calls for respect.
