Zamfara Lawmaker Raises Alarm Over Insecurity in Maru
Abdulmalik Zubairu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, has raised concerns over the persistent security challenges in Maru town.
Speaking at an event, Zubairu stated that Maru has experienced multiple bandit attacks over the past two years, with records available for verification. He added that he has personally visited the affected areas 60 times to offer condolences.
According to him, more than 30 people were kidnapped in the most recent attack. He also expressed disappointment that authorities had not taken sufficient action or shown public concern.
Zubairu urged residents to remain politically aware ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that governance should prioritize security and public welfare.
Meanwhile, former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, speaking through his former deputy, Senator Hassan Nasiha, expressed sorrow over the attacks. He called on APC members in the state to remain calm and law-abiding.
