Governor Adeleke Partially Lifts Curfew in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has ordered the immediate relaxation of the 24-hour curfew imposed on Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the curfew has been reduced to 17 hours per day, allowing movement between 2 PM and 7 AM. The new restriction takes effect on Friday, March 28, 2025.
The decision was made to ease the difficulties faced by residents while ensuring that security efforts remain effective in curbing violence in the affected areas.
Despite concerns over reports of another homicide, Governor Adeleke noted a decrease in violent incidents and urged continued cooperation from residents.
“The governor has directed the relaxation of the curfew to allow residents to attend to urgent needs while security operations continue to prevent further violence,” the statement read.
“We will not tolerate any further violence. Anyone found inciting unrest will face the full consequences of the law,” he warned.
Governor Adeleke confirmed an arrest related to the recent violence and instructed security forces to maintain high vigilance.
Additionally, he directed the State Emergency Response Agency to increase humanitarian efforts for displaced residents.
“Security operatives, including the police and military personnel, have been instructed to sustain their 24-hour surveillance to prevent any resurgence of violence.”
Residents of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun were urged to comply with the modified curfew and cooperate with security forces to restore lasting peace in the region.
