Governor Zulum Calls for Moderation, Generosity, and Religious Tolerance at OAU Ramadan Lecture
The Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has urged Muslims to uphold the values of moderation, generosity, and piety as taught by the Prophet (PBUH) and the Holy Qur’an.
Governor Zulum made this call on Sunday at the Annual Ramadan Lecture held at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where he was the Special Guest of Honour. The event, according to a statement by his Media Aide, Dauda Iliya, served as a platform to emphasize the significance of Ramadan in fostering patriotism, resilience, and generosity among Nigerians.
During his speech, Governor Zulum encouraged Muslims to embrace patience, patriotism, and prayer throughout the holy month. He also stressed the need to promote religious tolerance, actively participate in charitable activities, and serve as ambassadors of peace and harmony within their communities.
To support community cohesion and humanitarian initiatives, Governor Zulum donated N50 million on behalf of the government and people of Borno State to the OAU Muslim Community. This gesture underscores his commitment to strengthening fraternity and social welfare within the university and beyond.
