Primate Ayodele Warns President Tinubu on Growing National Disunity

Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a strong warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to take immediate steps to address Nigeria’s growing divisions across tribal, political, and religious lines.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Oluwatosin Osho, the cleric expressed deep concern over the widespread disunity affecting nearly every sector of the nation. He warned that if urgent actions are not taken, Nigeria could face an ethnic crisis and even a revolution.

Primate Ayodele lamented that tribalism, politics, and religious tensions have eroded national cohesion. He noted that football—once a unifying force—no longer serves its purpose due to the Super Eagles' poor performance, which he believes has worsened the nation’s divisions.

“Nigeria isn’t united in terms of geopolitical zones, religion, tribalism, and politics. Tribes dislike one another, and this threatens the nation’s unity.”

He urged the government to acknowledge these divisions and tackle them head-on to prevent future unrest.

To restore national unity, Primate Ayodele suggested that the government restructure the system and consider a referendum to reset the country’s foundation.

“Even if the Igbos gain power tomorrow, the same problems will persist. Our unity is under serious threat, and it affects all areas, including the presidency and civil service.”

He described disunity as a “cancer” responsible for political instability, social unrest, and even daily killings in the country.

The cleric warned that if left unaddressed, the deep-rooted divisions could lead to a revolution, affecting the economy, morality, and national stability.

“We need to address this spiritually before it leads to something worse. There is no love in this country—not even among those working closely with President Tinubu.”

Primate Ayodele urged the government to act swiftly, addressing the root causes of disunity to foster a stronger, more cohesive Nigeria.
