Rivers State Swears in Prof. Ibibia Lucky-Worika as New SSG
The Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), has officially sworn in Prof. Ibibia Lucky-Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
During the ceremony, Ibas emphasized that Prof. Worika’s wealth of experience would play a crucial role in enhancing governance and rebuilding public trust in Rivers State. The appointment, he noted, was not just an administrative decision but a strategic move to strengthen law, order, and good governance.
“To our new SSG, the task ahead is onerous, but your track record leaves no doubt in our minds that you will prove your mettle. Rivers State needs your intellect, grit, and unwavering dedication. Together, we will write a new chapter of progress for this great state,” he said.
Ibas expressed confidence that Prof. Worika’s expertise in law, policy, and international governance would be instrumental in aligning government decisions with the administration’s mission to stabilize the state and lay the foundation for democratic governance.
He urged the newly appointed SSG to work closely with civil servants to ensure effective governance while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and service.
“You have no time to settle down. You must roll up your sleeves and get to work with the team. Our civil servants are critical stakeholders, and we must work with them to ensure that the state continues to function effectively during this administration.”
Addressing permanent secretaries and civil servants, Ibas called for their full cooperation and support in achieving the administration’s objectives.
