Taraba Governor Warns Against Falsification of Retirement Age
The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has issued a strong warning to state employees attempting to falsify their retirement age, stating that they will face severe consequences if caught.
Governor Kefas made this announcement on Thursday in Jalingo while receiving the interim report from the Staff Audit and Verification Committee.
The Staff Audit and Verification Committee, established in August 2023, was tasked with:
- Confirming the actual number of employees on the state payroll.
- Investigating employment records from June 2023 onward.
- Verifying the authenticity of newly recruited staff.
- Providing recommendations on necessary corrective actions.
Governor Kefas emphasized the importance of honesty among public servants, urging them to avoid fraudulent activities. He assured that the committee’s findings would be thoroughly reviewed, with the State Ministry of Finance being kept informed.
Additionally, he urged the committee to maintain impartiality throughout the verification process.
Presenting the report, Haruna Abdulqadir, the committee chairman, disclosed that:
- Executive clearances granted to various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) were being reviewed.
- Detailed payroll records and staff rosters from June 2023 to 2024 were examined.
- Biometric data was collected while verifying 40 out of 96 MDAs in the state.
- Some employees flagged for inconsistencies are currently under further investigation.
The audit process is still ongoing, and further actions will be taken as necessary.
